DESCRIPTION
A very scarce pamphlet regarding the Popish Plot, a fictitious conspiracy that gripped England and Scotland in anti-Catholic hysteria between the years 1678 and 1681. English priest Titus Oates fabricated the existence of a massive Catholic conspiracy to assassinate King Charles II, which led to the execution of over twenty innocent men.
Published in 1679, this work was produced in the early stages of the conspiracy, and relays the proceedings of a parliamentary session in which the plot was discussed.
The work includes the speeches of members discussing the plot, Articles of Impeachment against the Five Lords in the Tower, the Earl of Danbys pardon and plea, and the Houses vote in defence of the King, and the Protestant religion.
