A first edition work. This is number 19 of 200 copies produced on Van Gelder paper.
In the publishers original Art Nouveau wraps by Jan Toorop.
Illustrated by Jan Toorop - a Dutch painter who worked in various styles, including Symbolism, Art Nouveau, and Pointillism - with a portrait frontispiece and two further plates, retaining their original tissue guards. Collated, complete.
A very scarce work from Willem Gerard van Nouhuys, a Dutch author who mainly gained fame as a dramatist and critic in the fields of literature and theatre.
CONDITION
In the publishers original paper wraps. Wraps lightly age toned, with light spotting to head of front wrap. Significant losses of paper to back strip. Hinges strained, with first third of text block detached from binding, and remaining leaves somewhat tenderly held, as is common with this work. Pages clean and bright.
